I got the moves
I got the moves
I’m on the board moving forward
Coz I watch the clock
and I wait for things to drop
And if you hide behind
the white winner delight
Well you might have tried
But I’ll show you how to play
I cant forget
I cant forget
That cigarette that you never lit
While I took here and there
You had your hands against your head
If we can both agree
Another round and I’ll take you down
And in the end,
in the end I hear you say:
Yeh I know it’s pretty great,
it’s pretty great
The way you play,
the way you play
Yeh I know it’s pretty great,
it’s pretty great
The way you play, so show me more
On the board
I never lose
I never lose
I work the board for me
I keep it under control
as you crumble underneath
We see a pattern emerge
Without words, we take turns
And I bring it back from defeat
The empty squares fill a void
Among the opening lines
That are built to destroy
It’s only mind versus mind
You turn your eyes on to me
You're mouthing something discreet
Gold and silver words
I know you know we agree
Yeh I know it’s pretty great,
it’s pretty great
The way you play,
the way you play
Yeh I know it’s pretty great, i
t’s pretty great
The way you play, so show me more
On the board
I got the moves
Gold and silver words
I never lose
Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
